Omega Men of Horry County (OMHC) is a non-profit corporation and is operated exclusively for educational, youth mentoring, and charitable purposes as seen in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of OMHC is to enhance the development of youth in Horry County, preparing them to face the challenges of a complex and changing world. Further, OMHC provides funds for student scholarships and to selected community organizations that aligns with its mission.

Awards Over Past Three Years

Through generous donations by donors and sponsors, Omega Men of Horry County has awarded over $20,000 in various types of educational scholarships over the past three years. Additionally, OMHC provides funds for Help4Kids, the Shepherd's Table Community Kitchen and Pantry. OMHC also provides back-to-school supplies for youth, and provides Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Boxes.

Student Educational Essay Scholarships Awards

The International High School Essay Contest is open to all college-bound, high school seniors in Horry County Schools who submit an essay application through a Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omega Men of Horry County Provides $1500 - 1st place, $1000 - 2nd place, and $500 - 3rd place winners each year for a total of $3000 per year.

Student Performing Arts Talent Hunt Awards

Omega Men of Horry County Supports the Student Performing Arts Talent Hunt sponsored by Upsilon Beta Beta fraternity chapter that provides exposure, encouragement and financial assistance to talented young people participating in the performing arts. Winners are awarded recognition and may be given college scholarships. Each year OMHC has available $1000 - 1st place, $500 - 2nd place, and $300 - 3rd place winners for a total of $1800 per year.

Carl B Miller Business Leader Scholarship Award

Carl B Miller Business Leader Scholarship Award

The Carl B Miller Business Leader Scholarship is awarded annually to one college-bound high school senior in Horry County Schools. The purpose of the Carl B. Miller Business Leader Scholarship is to: recognize a student interested in pursuing a career in an area of business or entrepreneurship; demonstrate leadership skills; extend support to youth in Horry County Schools by encouraging youth to consider careers in business and entrepreneurship; and provide a forum for recipients to meet established Business Leaders/Owners in Horry County. The winner receives $1000 toward their college/university expenses.

Backpack Preparation

OMHC will participate in the Community Back-to-School Backpack and School Supplies. OMHC will provide clear backpacks with school supplies.

HELP4KIDS

OMHC will provide financial assistance to Horry County HELP4Kids Backpack Buddies Program.

President

The board president is the chief volunteer officer of the corporation. The board president shall lead the board of directors in performing its duties and responsibilities.

Vice President

In the absence or disability of the board president, the ranking vice-president or vice-president designated by the board of directors shall perform the duties of the board president.

Secretary

The Secretary keeps a book of minutes of all meetings and actions of directors and committees of directors.

Treasurer

The treasurer is the lead director for oversight of the financial condition and affairs of the corporation. The OMHC Events Director is coordinates reviews all event requests to ensure they meet the goals outlined in the Bylaws and the South Carolina Secretary of State requirements for charitable organizations.

Community Services Director and Liaison for Mardi Gras Scholarship

The Community Services Directors is the face of OMHC to community. The director proactively engages with the community to ensure OMHC is providing community services as outlined in the Bylaws.

Terry Booth

Reporter

The Reporter is responsible for delivering updates on current OMHC activities and keeping the public abreast through newsletters, social media, and other communication delivery systems. Also, the Assistant to the Secretary serves in the absence of the Secretary.
